I've just heard that Chris Squire has passed away.There was a post on Billy Sherwood's page that was soon removed and I hoped it was a hack. However both John Wetton and Geoff Downes tweeted to confirm we have lost him.

I first saw him on stage at the Edinburgh Usher Hall back in 1975. It was my very first concert and I was catching my then favorite band. I admit to being so impressed with the big guy on bass that It played a big part when I welcomed the suggestion from friends to adopt his nickname. It was a bit embarrassing when we first met backstage in L.A. when I was on an American tour with Marillion. "Fish meet Fish" being the introduction.

We met several times over the years and I have fond memories of a lovely guy with a brooding dark side that oozed danger. We partied very hard a few times and opened quite a few story boxes in the late hours of a morning.

He was a brilliantly talented bass player and master musician and I hold him up there with the best I have ever seen or heard.

Practicamente toda la década de los 80 la dediqué a escuchar hard-rock y rock progresivo o sinfónico como lo llamábamos entonces y Chris Squire fue uno de mis ídolos por su manera de tocar, por su música, por su look. Una pena, un grande de verdad.

Mi homenaje a SQUIRE con una de mis piezas de YES favoritas por su hermosura.

Los homenajes del artista Quim hacen más llevaderas estas pérdidas porque te arrancan una sonrisa sí o sí.

Gracias No puedo entrar por aquí todo lo que quisiera pero estas cosas sí me gusta compartirlas con vosotros. No suelo tener películas, o libros, etc, preferidos…pero si la gente me pregunta por mi banda siempre digo YES. Los vi tres veces en directo y la verdad es que la mirada siempre se me iba a Chris Squire, tremenda presencia escénica (aunque la última vez sí le vi algo más cascado)

Y esta es mi carpeta universitaria, año 92, apogeo del grunge; llevar una carpeta forrada con la fotocopia de un single de una banda de rock progresivo no te hacía precisamente "popular", jejeje

Yes fueron la única banda sinfónica que escuché durante mi etapa metalúrgico-hard rockera; en gran medida por culpa de "90125" y su sonido más afín a mis gustos de entonces. Pero lo que realmente me enganchó a la figura de Chris Squire fue "90210The Solos"; ese artefacto que editaron como souvenir de la correspondiente gira del disco, en el cual el imponente bajista protagonizaba su momento de gloria junto a Alan White, en "Whitefish". Se va uno de los más grandes. DEP Chris Squire...

Iba a entrar al foro y cuando me enteré de la muerte de Chris Squire se me quitaron las ganas. Este gigante tenía un sonido de bajo robusto y hacía unos coros de puta madre. Esperaba que se repusiera pronto y que Yes se dejaran de coñas (me encanta Geoff Downes en Asia, no en Yes; ¿qué carajo hacen dos impersonators de Jon Anderson ahí?).

Me pasó como a ti, "Big Generator" me abrió las orejas a Yes y luego "90125 Live The Solos" fue el primer disco de Yes que compré. También tengo "90124" de Trevor Rabin (un cedé con las maquetas de lo que fue "90125" de Yes).

Amigo Quim Crimson, no hay nada malo en llevar una fotocopia de "Don't Kill The Whale" de Yes en plena era grunge. Lo único malo que veo ahí es que pertenece a su disco "Tormato"!!!

A pesar de tratarse de un disco denostado hasta por la misma banda, "Big Generator" me parece un digno sucesor de "90125". Quizá no alcance el nivel de éste último, pero tenía temazos: "Rythm of Love", "Love will find a Way", "Big Generator", o la enigmática "Shoot High, Aim Low"

A mi también me caía bien. Al parecer era un adicto al juego y recuerdo una aparición suya como concursante en aquel programa de la Obregón, Qué apostamos? y se le veía disfrutar a saco.

Nos ha dejado Javier Krahe a los 71.. Una persona singular sin duda. Yo pude verlo en el Auditorio de aqui en su espctaculo "18 Chulos"..junto a Carbonel, Wyoming y Segura.
